3721 Beverly Drive will be on this year's New Friends New Life Home Tour.

3721 Beverly Drive will be on this year’s New Friends New Life Home Tour.

Last year’s New Friends New Life home tour was a wash thanks to horrible weather, but if you bought tickets to last year’s tour, you’ll be happy to know that you can use them this year to see an all-new slate of gorgeous mansions in the Park Cities.

Brooke Kilburn is the chair of this year’s tour, the organization’s 15th, with Pat Schenkel as the honorary chair. The tour will feature 3831 Windsor Lane, 3432 Southwestern Blvd., 3721 Beverly Drive (pictured), and a home on the gorgeous, winding Lakeside Drive in Highland Park from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23.

We are extremely excited about this tour, not only because it’s a fantastic cause and because we were sad to miss last year’s tour, but because some of these homes were built and remodeled by the best in the business. You can’t pass that kind of opportunity up. Seriously, this tour will be like walking through Pinterest. Sublime!

You can purchase tickets at the door or at one of these 10 Tom Thumbs for just $25. It all goes to New Friends New Life, a nonprofit dedicated to helping women and children escape the sex trade.

Paul Turney-Designed and “Danish”-Built Custom Home in University Heights

3216 Colgate Front

I love the story behind this gorgeous home. It was built in the true “transitional” style — the exterior and materials are high-quality and timeless, while the shapes and angles are all very modern feeling. Lots of clean lines and a cool neutral palette go so well with classical design attributes like coved ceilings and marble accents. It’s marketed by one of the fastest-rising agents in Dallas — Alex Roostaei of Allie Beth Allman & Associates — for $2.995 million. Considering the amazing location and incredible finish-out of this home, that’s quite a good price.

The style, the location, the expert build — all of this make 3216 Colgate a truly High Caliber home,  a property with matchless design and thoughtful construction. Of course, for a home like this, securing a loan should be an equally high-caliber experience, one that Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans could provide. Lisa, a seasoned mortgage professional, knows that financing an amazing home must be a just as flawless as the home itself.

University Park Condo is Perfect For a Small Family

Front with circle drive

At certain price points, property values and housing demand in the Park Cities owe a lot to the top-rated schools in Highland Park ISD, and it’s an area where you’ll see well-maintained luxury condo and townhome developments that add just the right amount of density to the area. It’s less garden-style apartment or walk-up and more polished row house, and that’s why this lovely remodeled condo at 3415 McFarlin is an excellent value for a small family who wants low maintenance and great schools.

Near Highland Park High School, a townhome has been decorated with HazMat bins and "Caution" tape, lampooning our recent Ebola scare.

Near Highland Park High School, a townhome has been decorated with HazMat bins and “Caution” tape, lampooning our recent Ebola scare.

This homeowner at Emerson and Westchester near Highland Park High School opted for some truly scary Halloween decorations this year, which actually caused some serious questions from neighbors wondering whether the stucco-clad townhome was really under quarantine.

Since then, in order to re-assure neighbors, a “Happy Halloween” sign has been hung from the balcony. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a home with Halloween decorations that are of questionable taste …

Ultimate House For Entertaining on Sought After Windsor Place

4420 Windsor Front

Last week’s Supper Club really threw you for a loop, didn’t it? It was your first time hosting a dinner for five couples in your home, and it made the space feel over-full and claustrophobic. This house that was a wonderful place when your children were small is starting to feel as if it’s bursting at the seams now that your kids constantly have their friends over. Weekends seem like a never-ending stream of sleepovers and fundraisers. You’ve finally faced facts: it’s time to upgrade your living space.

Yes, some brave souls would take the time to hire an architect, find a builder, and perhaps remodel or expand their current home. But for you? Ain’t nobody got time for that! Why not find a fantastic home that will entertain crowds of all ages, with tons of open space an upgrades, that will fit your family for years?

Saad Chehabi has been a businessman for more than three decades. He started his own mosaic tile company and was the supplier for many hotels in Las Vegas in addition to many celebrities’ homes. He parlayed his design knowledge and business acumen to found his own residential construction company, S & R Development, in Dallas in 2002.

“We started out building custom homes in Highland Park and Preston Hollow and have expanded to other areas,” he says. S & R prides itself in giving customers high-quality homes showcasing the company’s attention to detail and style.

“I’m very hands on. I don’t leave a project,” says the SMU graduate and native of Syria. “I run each one personally and cannot spend time away from what I’m working on so I limit the number of projects I take and try to keep them close together.” Currently he has four projects going in the Preston Hollow area, three of which are over 8,000 square feet. His company recently completed a large home in Plano and the homes in PH should be completed by the end of this year and the beginning of next.

“I’m seeing customers wanting less traditional homes these days,” says Chehabi. “New home construction is more about cleaner lines overall.”

3344 Rankin Front

There are two reasons I love this listing:

1) This home is seriously adorable and not at all what you’d expect from a home in University Park, where restrained architecture and transitional style reigns supreme. Cozy and colorful, with original details in the most unexpected places, it is a treasure trove of architectural interest.

2) This home is packed to the gills with a lifetime’s worth of worldly collectables. Exotic pelts, antiques, African statues and masks, Moroccan textiles, and Spanish tile cover the floors, walls, and even ceilings of this beautiful home.

Jump for an inside look!
