8200 Forest Hills Front

I have been watching this amazing home for a little while. A reader sent me a link to this incredible Forest Hills home a couple of weeks ago when it first hit the market, and I was in love. Really, the “Father of the Bride” exterior — classic white with pillars flanking the front door and dark shutters — made me weak in the knees. The gorgeous bay windows are show off in the twilight photos. It is All-American like apple pies, rootbeer floats, or a hamburger at Keller’s.

And now, it’s $50,000 cheaper.

Candy forwarded me this home last week, and the subject line of the email was, “Cutie pie with built-ins galore!” She sure does know how to sell me on a home, because I love a good bungalow with a high cute factor.

I know what you’re thinking now. “Sure, lots of homes have great drive-up and location. But what about the inside?” Well, hold on to your socks, folks, because you might just get them knocked offwhen you check out some of the fantastic architectural details inside this 1947 traditional.

First thing you’ll notice is the archways between rooms. The most dramatic are the scalloped archways flanking the dining room between the kitchen and living room. I just love them. It is a fantastic detail that is simple and yet very dramatic. Of course, there are tons of great built-ins, just like Candy said. In fact, they’re pretty much in every room, with corner cabinets for your china collection in the dining room, a floor-to-ceiling bookcase in the living room, and then another set of shelves in the breakfast area off the kitchen.
