Rebecca Keys and Patricia Coble!

Congrats, ladies, and check your email for more information on your win!

If you didn’t win today’s ticket giveaway, you can still purchase tickets to the home tour on the ABPA website for the discounted pre-tour rate. The ticket price goes up $5 tomorrow, the day of the tour, but you can still buy them at the door. Of course, you don’t want to miss the holiday market at 4205 Lakeside, where you can buy beautiful baubles from vendors who are donating a portion of their proceeds toward ABPA.

The home tour will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 5, and is one of the best home tours in Dallas featuring some incredible Highland Park homes! We’ve profiled the gorgeous Georgian revival at 4000 McFarlin owned by Rachel Stephens, the cool contemporary at 3501 Lindenwood owned by the stylish D’Andra Simmons and Jeremy Lock, and the swank Anton Korn original at 4205 Lakeside, which is listed with Allie Beth Allman Realtor Terri Cox for $8.5 million. Find out more about the tour and its sponsors right here.

We are so excited about this home tour, and we hope you are, too!

To say that we were bummed about last year’s ABPA Homes for the Holidays Home Tour getting canceled due to inclement weather is an understatement. We full-on mourned, y’all. Lease The Perfect Transitional Home in Highland Park

4524 Westway Curb

Yes, that’s right. I said perfect. Why? Because it is.

Every inch of this Highland Park home has been thoroughly and thoughtfully planned, right down to the last inch. The result is a grand home with an intimate feel, one that is perfect played up or played down. It could accommodate a range of decor styles, and thanks to its muted, transitional exterior, is appealing to a broad set of potential tenants or buyers.

Truly, 4524 Westway is a masterpiece of design and architecture, and you can live here for a recently reduced $11,250 a month. Listing agent is Douglas Ratlif, a new agent with Lively Realty.

Inwood House of the Week: One of My Favorite Euphorics on Euclid

3601-Euclid-Pool-copy-533x400Oh how we love this home, it’s one of our favorites. I first started writing about 3601 Euclid back in 2008, when it was first built. And I have written about it so much I think that maybe, by now, I can claim a sort of Squatter’s Rights. This architecturally significant home was completely rebuilt in 2008 and is a shining tribute to sleek modern design, one of the best examples in Dallas.  Recall the dramatic entry with floating staircase, the Poliform kitchen (I’m fainting, always do!), the walls of glass overlooking the sleek pool, the patios, and grass yard. They even have the TV floating over the view! Sophisticated design elements throughout from zebra wood floors to floating floors, this home has won more awards than Richard Rogers. The glorious master bedroom is downstairs with beautiful, generous his and her baths. All other bedrooms are upstairs with the game room, all connected by a glass bridge walkway. (more…)

HightlandParkHSOver the last ten years, Highland Park Independent School System has seen a 14% increase in enrollment. Dr. Dawson Orr, Superintendent of the Highland Park Independent School System, recently sent out an announcement to the mayors, councilmembers and city managers of Dallas, Highland Park and University Park explaining the drivers of HPISD enrollment. What are they? Students coming in from single family homes being built faster than light speed, and families leasing homes in the Park Cities due to a new policy at SMU that requires freshman and sophomores to live on campus. Actually, that’s a good policy. Students get into less travieso in the dorms than private homes unsupervised, I think. But it has opened up a lot of inexpensive rental property to families with children, potentially. (more…)

4242 Lomo Alto Dining

Every time I see an incredible condo swathed in white carpet and upholstery, I always think about how I could never live there because folks, I am accident prone and I love red wine. When I bought my first nice piece of furniture (an antique cane-back chair with gorgeous blue and white damask upholstery) I was so afraid to sit in it because I couldn’t bear the thought of staining it. It has since been reupholstered with a lovely cocoa nubby linen, with a liberal coat of Scotchgard.

But what I wouldn’t give to live in our lease of the week, a divine penthouse in Highland Park’s Crestmark condos. Unit 112 is simply ethereal, and the views are unmatched! You can lease it for a tidy $6,000 a month through Allie Beth Allman herself.
